Until today, the custom of Lantern Festival is still spread throughout China. Lanterns of all kinds and beauty are lit on this day. Children carry self-made lanterns to walk around the streets, very happy.
Guessing lantern riddles is also an important part of the Festival. Lantern owners write riddles on the lanterns and post them on the door. If someone can solve the riddles correctly, they will get a small gift.
The activity originated in the Song Dynasty (979 ~ 979 AD) and became popular among all social strata as riddles were both enlightening and interesting.
